POHAS Child Protection Policy

Everyone will be aware that Child Protection is a highly emotive subject, particularly within Sport where our young members of society have by the very nature of many sports, close ties with coaches, trainers, instructors etc.

Penketh & Old Hall Angling Society has been pro-active in this very important area.
Since 2004 the Club has adopted a Child Protection Policy written by 'Joint Angling Governing Bodies' and administered by the 'Salmon & Trout Association'. The complete document can be downloaded below.

Club Members who officiate at our Junior matches have been police checked and are CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) approved.

As part of our Child Protection procedures, we also have an anti-bullying policy which is necessary for all of our members to adhere to. This can also be downloaded below.

All matches on Brownlee's & Whitegate meet poolside at 9.00am. Fish from 10.00am - 1.00pm (20 pegs available).

Additional Rule 1: Any Junior member wishing to be considered for the Junior League and be awarded points at each match MUST be a valid member no later than the second match of each season ( ie 12th July 2008 is the second match for Juniors in 2008).

Additional Rule 2: It is no longer possible to join on the day of a match and expect to fish. Licences are available from March each year and are available from Bailiffs and committee members who's details are shown below. Plenty of time to get your licence.

The above rules have been added to ensure that we are fair to those Juniors who endeavour to fish most if not all matches. We have had instances (hence the rule), where Juniors have purchased a licence, fished one match and not been seen again. This is not fair, and could stop another member fishing if pegs are limited.

Polite request: To ensure that we have enough spaces on each match, we would appreciate a quick phone call if you want to fish. A week before the match would be sufficient time to make sure we have everything available, and where necessary have sufficient transport if it is an away match.

For all Junior Match information, contact our Chairman Frank Davies on 01925 652327 after 6pm.

Don't forget - get your 2008/9 licences early, available from 16th March 2008.

Junior matches are once again free to enter in 2008 for our Junior members.

All matches fished on a Saturday unless stated otherwise.

Away matches, meet at Brownlee's at 9.00am, transportation to and from venue can be arranged. Fish at venue 11.00am - 2.00pm (20 pegs available).

Match on Sankey Canal will also be a competition against Juniors from other clubs (subject to their availability), meet at Waterways car park at 9.00am, fish 10.00am - 1.00pm. (map)

BBQ & Refreshments will be available on all matches fished at Brownlee's or Whitegate.

If you want to take up fishing, join, tuition is available from Senior Club Members (we have a child protection policy in place for the protection of all). Contact us for details.

All Junior matches contribute towards the 'Junior Summer League Shield' - The trophies for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place will be presented at our annual presentation evening.

The 2008 Presentation Evening is on Friday 3rd October
at
Roosters Club (next to Bank Quay Club) - the fun starts at 8pm
