Today was the last match in this year's Summer League for our Junior members.
Unfortunately at the last minute (Thursday evening) we had to transfer the match intended for our Whitegate Pool to Brownlee's Pool following advise from the Environment Agency. This follows a speight of as yet unknown fish deaths which are being investigated. At this moment it appears to be a water issue not a disease issue, however more news on that when we get it on our usual news page. The result is that our last match was fought out on Brownlee's.
The league has been closely fought and several members had a chance of the title.
Weather today was warm and about 21 degrees, however the air was quite oppressive and high pressure. This had the effect that fishing was going to be difficult as many of the fish were not interested in eating.
All-In was at 10.00am and it was to be a difficult three hours fishing.
In the end out of the ten anglers that fished only two caught, that was William Armstrong and Arron Chadwick each with an 8 Dram (Half an Ounce) fish.

Today was a story of "what if's", Jack Wright, Sam Hughes and Chris Dolan each hooked into good fish, ufortunately it was the old saying "The one that got away". If any of the three had held on to their catch they would have won the match and the league, as they say "if" is a big word.
At the end of the match William and Arron were joint match winners, but the 20 points gained by William was enough to win him the 2008 Junior League giving him 93 points against his nearest rival Sam Hughes on 85 Points.
Well done to William and well done to everyone who fished the matches and in a sporting way. We look forward to seeing you all at the Presentation Night which is on Friday 3rd October at Roosters Club. All details are elsewhere on the website and in your 2008 Club Licence.
