Yesterday was our annual fur and feather Christmas match at Partridge lakes on Covey 6.
It was bowing a bit of a hooey when we got there at 7.45am and first things first a brew and a butty from the chuck wagon.
The draw was scheduled for 8.30am with the match fishing 10.00am to 3.00pm.
Today's recipient of the Golden Peg was Phil Morris who had a struggle today finishing in unlucky thirteenth place.
Myself and James sorted the pegging and with only 16 pegs meant we all had plenty of room.
Conditions were awful with the wind and rain making presentation difficult. I drew peg 151 which can be good on its day and fortunately for me there were a few fish about. I had three fish across to the point of the island on maggots but when the wind allowed me to, I caught most of my fish dobbing maggots at 3ft towards the airator. A few F1's in the track late on took my total to twenty one fish for 50lb and enough for the match win, with Phil Clare and Rob Healey making up the rest of the frame.
Well done to everyone for sticking it out and special thanks to Sue and Phil Morris for the doughnuts! After the match we warmed up with a nice Carvery at the Stonemill Pub and a few of us 'hardy types' headed over to the Hoop and Mallet later for a beer or two (not to mention Jager Bombs).
With this being our last Winter League match, after today's result, our top three Winter League anglers for 2018 are:-
1st James Bryan with 34 points

3rd Mark Davies with 25 points
Thanks to everyone who fished the league (all 28 of you), as usual it has been very sporting and entertaining as it always is. You can see the full league by clicking on league button on the side of this and other pages within our website.
