Penultimate match in this season's Winter League and off to one of our favourite local venues, Fir Tree Fishery where we were fishing Fir Water.
We had the full pool so Alan and James on arrival went off to decide what pegs were in. Turnout today was 17 anglers so a decent number.
During the course of the week the weather forecast had improved, with a Southerly breeze it pushed the rain back up North, or at least it did till about 10 minutes before the all-out!
The draw took place at 8.30am and the match fished 10.00 - 3.00. This weeks recipient of Golden Peg was Phil Morris (sorry Phil), the curse continues.
Sheila as per the norm came round to take food order for members fishing, unfortunately there was a slight mix up and Phil Morris by mistake ended up with Paul Roby's butty, I wasn't with him or fortunately near him at the time, but I believe he sked Sheila to go make him another butty. I did check with Sheila that he wasn't rude, she was OK about it, and Mr Roby was satisfied.
During the course of the match the breeze got up to a strong gusty breeze which on some pegs made presentation difficult and holding a pole at full stretch tiresome.
Bait today was predominantly maggot with micro's.
Well done to all of the lads today, of course our top three of Dave, Alan and James. Commiserations to Phil who had Golden Peg, he tried, but unfortunately the £200 Golden Peg rolls over to the next match, which is our Fur & Feather match @ Partridge Lakes on Saturday 8th December.
Expect to see a few more on this match as it's the first opportunity for the winner to qualify for Partridge Lakes Club Angler 2019 which takes place sometime in October 2019, so two competitions in one match!
Tightlines!
