Winter League - Lloyd's Meadow - Badger Pool - 31st October 2015

Today's match keeps us in Cheshire at Lloyd's Meadw Fishery. Twenty Four members gathered at 8.00am on what turned out to be a lovely Winter's day. Not really Winter as the temperature got up to seventeen degree's during the course of the match, the wind was negligible and we had patches of sun from time to time, so weather wise a very pleasant day.
Most members trecked up to the house to get a breakfast butty nicely prepared by Sarah our host at Lloyd's Meadow (thanks Sarah). Following the demolition of food, Alan and James went to peg out the pool and upon their return the draw took place.
Match was scheduled to be fished 10.15 - 3.15 and today's unlucky recipient of the Golden Peg, plucked out of the draw bag by Adam was Mark Davies, who has history of winning the Golden Peg so tension was high with the thought of £200 disappearing from the kitty.
The match duly got underway and it soon became clear which sides of the pool had the chance of a decent weight. Two sides had an absence of Carp although some decent Ide and Perch were caught, but wouldn't be enough to fend off the other two sides and the members who were on the Carp.
Majority of anglers stuck with the pole whilst a few had a chuck to the island. Bait today was all the usual suspects, Maggot, Pellet, Worm etc. Although we are lead to believe our eventual winner was on double maggot.
The match concluded at 3.15 as the light began to fade here in the Delamere Forest. Alan and James did the weigh-in, and below you will see the results.
Our fears of the Golden Peg going were soon put aside as Mark was hit with the curse weighing in with 11lb 8oz.
Biggest fish went twice today, with Butch Whiteside hauling out a 10lb Carp, only to be beaten a few pegs later by Lea Charnock who pipped him with q 10lb 8oz Carp. Doubt that weight will last the season, but for now it's biggest fish.
Congratulations to Rooster Roylance, his first win in three years and was he happy.
Well done to all those who fished the match today.

Our next match is only two weeks away at Fir Tree Fishery up in Lancashire, so look forward to seeing you there!

See you all soon......Tightlines.....
