Spring League - Cheshire Fishing - Pools 4 & 5 - 16th May 2015

Last match in this year's Spring League, can't believe the time has gone that fast.
Think it would be fair to say we have had yet another great turnout for this league and it's also fair to say the league this year will be remembered for the wind, not bodily but the weather version, today was another windy day although we had a bright day throughout apart from a two minute shower at the start.
We had a late pool change following a phone call the previous day from the proprietor saying some landscaping work had been done so we were now on 4 & 5 instead of 5 & 6. We treated this as two matches in one due to using two pools as this was seen to be the fairest way, so we had two of everything, 1st's, 2nd's 3rd's etc. Pools money would be paid for the top two on each pool and the usual Golden Peg selected from all the anglers involved.
We had twenty three anglers today and welcomed new member Rob Healey to the fray as this was his first match with us.
Alan and James pegged the pools out as there are no fixed pegs at this venue, so for ease they pegged twelve on each water.
Pegging complete the draw commenced at 8.30am and the match scheduled to fish 10.00am - 3.00pm.
The match duly got underway and fished for the usual five hours with no major event happening other than the usual friendly banter (and whinging ha ha)!
It was clear that pool four was the pool to be on and that was as they say 'peggy'. Congratulations to Dave Newton who was 'on it' all day and amassed a total weight of 84lb 12oz, congratulations also to Roly (Paul Rowlands) who won his pool with a weight of 25lb 14oz, we won't hear the last of that!
Final congrats to Rob Healey who on his first match with us came second to Roly on pool five, sign of things to come perhaps for our new member?
Jim Bates drew the Golden Peg today and the curse rolls on with Jim finishing eighth on pool four with a weight of 10lb 8oz, the £200 safe again.
You can see the full match results below and readers of our pohas fishing page on Facebook may also see reports from individual anglers on their day, so for more detail visit our Facebook page, just search for 'pohas fishing' to see what match members have written.
Well done to everyone who fished the Spring League, the winner this year Alan Lamb finishing on 24 points, closely followed by John Bryan who up until this match was leading, he finished on 22 points and in third place Mark Davies on 20 points.
We had a total of 35 anglers compete across the series so very good attendance, hope to continue the popularity into the Summer League which starts at Blake Hall on 6th June, look forward to seeing you there.
Just before the Summer League our three match 'Summer Sizzler League' which is a four hour Sunday evening series all contested at Meadow View and fishes from 5.00 - 9.00pm on selective Sunday evenings across the Summer (see matches page). The first being on Sunday 31st May, if you can make it, see you there.
To all it was good to see everyone and hopefully we will see you on a match soon.
