First day of Spring and St David's Day and we are all out fishing!
This match was in addition to our leagues and came about as a practce event for a team match we are involved with which takes place later this month.
We felt it only right to also open up this session to all of our members as we had sufficient pegs, so with our members and a couple of guests we had twenty five fishing, which was a great turnout.
We split the members over the two waters and had twelve on Marsh and thirteen on Spey. On the morning of the match we agreed pools money and decided winner takes all on each pool.
Given recent weather (rain, rain and more rain), today was very pleasant with blue skies and sun, although at 8am the temperature was zero degree's which eventually rose to six degree's later in the day, it felt warmer as there was very little breeze. The lack of ripple and the early morning frost may have had an effect on fishing, but fishermen always look for an excuse don't they (lol).
Following the usual breakfast and a brew (thanks Paul in the chuck wagon), the draw took place at 8.30am and the match would run from 10.00am - 3.00pm.
The day passed with little incident other than Mike Lewis (peg 15 on Marsh) was accompanied by his 'little helper' Peter Jones, who got up from his chair and stood on Mike's pole . . . . Oops!
You can see the results below, well done to everyone who fished especially some of our Juniors who would see this as a learning experience, we hope you enjoyed the day, our Spring League starts on 12th April when we are at High Heyes Fishery, hope to see you there or on one of our own pools soon.
