First of our three Summer Sizzlers took place yesterday evening at Meadow View. The weather was very pleasant with a light overcast sky for most of the evening, a starting air temperature of 23 degrees dropping to about 16 degrees by the end of the match. Minimal breeze gave good fishing conditions.
Seventeen anglers made the draw which took place at 4pm, with the match being fished from 5pm - 9pm.
The match prior to us during the day had been won with 80+ lb and the going was tough. We were optimistic that the evening would bring the fish on and give us some good sport.
Shortly after the all-in it was clear our optimism was unfounded. Everyone had difficulty getting bites let alone hook a fish. Every method known to man was tried as were baits, but very few had any significant success.
All-out sounded at 9pm and the weigh-in completed. You can see by the weight below that fishing was poor this evening by Meadow View standards, we hope that another month until the next evening match here may show an improvement.
Historically we have not had a winning weight less than 50lb on previous Summer Sizzlers at this venue, so let's hope this is just a blip.
Thanks to all those who fished today and to our top three of Ken, Dave N and Alan.
Our next match is less than a week away for the first of our Summer League matches where we will be in Staffordshire at Blake Hall. Hope to see you there.
