First of our Summer series and it was least like Summer!
Left home about 7.00am and a pleasant morning no breeze and about sixteen degrees. By the time we arrived at the fishery one hour later, the skies were black, the rain bouncing down and Thunder & Lightning. A typical British Summer (not).
Twenty five members eventually made it to the fishery with most tucking in to the usual high quality breakfast. As we dined, the rain continued and the thunder and lightning continued to make it's presence felt.
The draw finally took place at about 8.30 and suprisingly the demonic weather had disappeared, the skies lightened and the rain had stopped.
Today's recipient of Golden Peg was Jim Bates so that ruined his day.
The match fished from 10.15 - 3.15. A slightly delayed start due to some members getting lost on the way!
Mike Roylance called upon referee Alan to judge the peg he drew was unfishable, so he moved down one peg by agreement with Alan.
We were about an hour into the match before the skies darkened again, the temperature dropped and the heavens opened. This was on and off for the next three hours. Then the skies brightened, blue skies made an appearance and the temperature zoomed up to about 21 degrees. This stayed with us throughout the weigh-in and packing away which was a bonus.
As you will see below everyone caught and our eventual winner was Adam Hill with a good 45lb 15oz. He tells us he caught up in the water on 8mm banded pellets, it certainly worked for him today. Jim with Golden Peg was definitely cursed only managing twenty fourth place with 3lb 7oz.
Thanks to all that made the trip today and sticking it out through very unseasonal weather. Our next match is in two weeks time on 21st June and is our first coach trip this Summer, the first being to The Oaks at Sessay near Thirsk, so for those on that match, we look forward to seeing you at one of the two pick up points (no other pick ups other than Maltings and Villagio's).
