Winter League - Charity Farm - Pool 4 - 12th October 2013

First match in our new 2013-2014 season and the first match in this years Winter league. We didn't get off to the best of starts as we were restricted to exactly the eighteen pegs we required, when nobody else was fishing on the pool, don't understand the logic as it doesn't, and it proved didn't give the best fishing experience which reflects on the fishery, so nuff said about that.
Good turn out with eighteen anglers for this match, after finally sorting out what pegs we could have we got the draw underway and the match scheduled to fish from 10.00 until 3.00pm.
We had an occasional gusty breeze which didn't cause too many problems, the main thing it was dry throughout the match and with an air temperature of about 13 degree's was quite a pleasant day.
No major incidents other than Mike Lewis snapping his pole and losing his elastic and tackle on what was the only Carp to be hooked today, excluding the small Cruscian Carp that Alan caught on peg 17. The catch today with this exception was all Silver fish.
The match concluded at 3.00pm and the weigh-in commenced with our Match Referee Alan Lamb and Netsman James Bryan running proceedings.
The results are all below to see, well done to all, in particular our top three of Alan, Ken and Mick. Hard luck once again to 'Butch' Whiteside who yet again drew Golden Peg and again was unlucky, especially as he also foul hooked the Carp that smashed Mike Lewis, had he caught it then it could have been a different story, but it's fishing and it was the "one that got away".

Our next match is only a week away at Rosemary Wood, so we hope to see you there.

Finally, at the end of the match we had a presentation from Ken Whibley on behalf of the Birchwood Lions with a cheque for £100.00 which will go towards the forthcoming decking platforms at our Brownlee's Pool. We would like to thank everyone at Birchwood Lions for this kind donation and it will be put to good use.

That's it for now, see you on a match soon...
