The first match in a brand new three match series we have called our Winter Drizzlers, and if there ever was an apt title, today was the day. We all arrived at Lymm Dam for 8.00am and it started to rain and the wind got up. After discussions with Dave the Bay Malton Bailiff we organised our pegs and agreed that anglers could star when they were ready, and all-out would be at 2.30pm to the sound of the Church Bells (how quaint).
Fourteen members turned out for the match with our match referee Roly deciding not to fish it then went down to thirteen fishing. Several members decided to have some breakfast at the butty wagon on Lymm Dam which helped keep out the awful weather.
By 11.00am the rain had pelted down but the shy began to clear and from lunchtime we had blue skies, no rain and the wind became a gentle breeze.
In this series of matches we have changed the scoring system to make it interesting with every member getting a point for fishing and also the more species of fish you get points also once you get more than one species.
Today it was 99.9% Roach, with only Ray and Alan getting anything other than Roach, Ray had a nice Pike as well in his catch.
Roly arrived back at 2.30pm in time for the weigh-in and you can see the results for yourselves below.
Our second match in this series is also on Lymm Dam in a months time on 17th March, so look forward to seeing you there.
