Third match into this seasons Winter League and it most definitely was Winter. Having to defrost the car before leaving and reaching only 1°C upon arrival at High Heyes it was a cool but sunny day with a light breeze.
As we had divided the previous two matches across two pools, even though we were all on pool 2 today, to keep consistency we did the same here. Pegs 2-19 and pegs 20-29 were classed as two matches and points awarded accordingly.
The draw took place at 8.30am with nineteen members braving the weather and the match fished from 10.00am until 3.00pm.
Golden Peg today was drawn by Mike Lewis who unfortunately missed the current £200 win by 1lb 11oz from Alan who got 39lb 2oz against Mike's 37lb 8oz.
Mike did go for a walk round for about 30 minutes and had one of the papperazzi's cheese sandwiches, which I told him was a very expensive sandwich. Had he fished the full five hours he could well have been £200 better off. Ah well, there's always next time Mike, it's only money :(
Most people caught today and some of the Carp were tidy brutes, in fact Alan Lamb has got the biggest fish so far this season at 10lb 10oz today. Decent size Roach and Bream were also extracted from pool 2. Bait today varied from Maggot, Pellet and worm, some catching on the pole, others on the rod.
Papperazzi had a bad day, first forgetting one of his camera lenses then realising that he hadn't got a memory card in the camera! That was that, no photo's today.
So another day concluded under sunny skies, although a bit chilly with the air temperature maxing out at about 8°C.
Thats it for another match, a two week break now until the penultimate Winter match at Brookside on Kingfisher Pool. Hopefully the weather gods will be on our side, so see you there on Saturday 10th November.
Hope to see you on a match soon.
