Penultimate match of this seasons Winter League and we were close to home at Brookside Fishery, Warrington. Today we were on Kingfisher Pool which is one of the new pools at Brookside having only been open for two years.
The weather was kind to us today with much of the match taking place under blue skies and little if any breeze. The temperature at the start was about 4 degrees climbing to 10 degrees later in the afternoon.
The only complaint being that the ground was very boggy and treacherous in places, but everyone made it through the day unscathed.
Many of the members tucked into breakfast in the cafe before the match, Alan and James pegged out the pool for the nineteen anglers in the match today.
The draw took place at 8.30am and the match was fished from 9.45 - 2.45.
You will see from the weights below and the DNW's that it was a tough day, but that's what we expect in Winter fishing, you have to fight for every ounce, and some were up to the task whilst others struggled.
Maggot seemed to be the choice bait today.
One member deemed to be fishing past the half way mark in the pool, but no complaint was registered so the result stands.
As we have done throughout this Winter League the match has been split into two, so we have two winners, two seconds etc which has made it more fun.
So today pegs 1 - 10 and pegs 2 - 20 are todays match setting.
Congratulations to our winners John Osborne for his first match win since joing us and to Kev Smith who after a lean spell got a win today.
Good also to see another Junior move up and enter a Senior match, well done Adam Harman who was third in his section of the pool today.
Golden Peg on this match was Paul Morris on peg one and yet again the money rolls up and we try again at the next match at Meadow View on 1st December which is our Fur & Feather match, so we hope to see you there.
Hope to see you on a match soon.
