Already we are at the last match in our Spring League for 2011 and this was the decider for this year.
Everyone arrived for 8.00am to enjoy a breakfast in the cafe. Early birds Roly and 'My Sack' had arrived early so while we were all queuing for food they went to peg out the pool.
After a slow start due to delayed breakfasts we all met down by the pool for the draw and after the delays it was decided to fish from 10:15 - 3:15.
Seventeen members turned out today which was good as some members were absent due to work and holiday commitments.
The weather was reasonable and achieved a temperature of 17°C although there was a stiff breeze blowing across some parts of the lake.
Today's poor unfortunate recipient of the Golden Peg was James Bryan who was condemned to 14th Place, so the money was safe yet again.
Crayfish were popular today with several anglers having to deal with them, shame they didn't count toward the weight, it may have helped some members!! At least Roly got his tea fresh! He is a Crustacean lover so he was taking them home to have with Garlic Butter!! We hasten to add that this was with agreement from the fishery management.
Club Chairman played a blinder yet again and won the match with a few Carp which were few and far between. So congratulations to our top three, Frank Davies, Stephen Tatlock and Adam 'the beast' Hill.
The Spring League is now complete and Alan Lamb's three points for coming 8th today was enough to secure him this year's Trophy with a total of 20 points, in second place Stephen Tatlock with 19 points and in third place Frank Davies with 17 points.
Well done to today's winners and to the winners of the league. We now move on to our Summer League which starts on 18th June and it's our first coach trip to Makins, so hope to see you all for that.
See you all soon......Tightlines.....
