Today's match was the penultimate for our 2009 Winter League, and it was a true Winter match at the start with rain and strong winds whipping across the flat landscape at Rosemary Woods.
We had thirteen members prepared for the elements today. Our first crisis happened when the butty wagon failed to arrive, but it did about an hour later so crisis over.
The rain cleared and the wind abated, but conditions were still difficult, with most members preferring the rod to the pole, and maggot appeared to be the favoured bait today.

No hanging about, all-in was at 9.15am for the compulsory five hour match.
Golden peg today was Tom Prescott's pleasure, made even more painful by eventually finishing second (hard luck Tom).
Joe and Mike ended up having to fish tackle out of the pool,fortunately they were successful in retrieving their top section and landing net.
The usual banter was doing the rounds today, unfortunately none of it suitable for putting on this web page! But hilarious for those involved (Alan)...
Congratulations to everyone who took part in the battle of the elements. Well done to James, Tom and Roly the top three.
We also had the first acknowledged biggest fish of this 2009/10 season with Tom bagging a 7lb 7oz Carp as part of his catch. Let's see how long that lasts for.
The final Winter League match also known as our 'Fur & Feather' takes place on the Bridgewater Canal on Saturday 5th December, hope to see you there!
