History dictates that Round 2 is our stumbling block in this competition, and yet again it proved to be true.
Today we were at Brookside against Jacobs AC. The weather forecast today was for showers but none arrived and the weather was perfect all day, starting at about 12 degrees in the morning and finishing on about 20 degrees during the afternoon.
The draw took place at 8.00am and the match fished from 9.15am to 2.15pm. It was a tough day for many anglers and the competition in the end was close. A mixture of baits seemed to work today, either Caster, Sweetcorn or Pellet depending on your peg.
At the end Jacobs AC came through with 4 section wins against our 3, with 1 section being drawn. That gave Jacobs 11 points to our 12 (lowest score wins). Had it been scored by weight we would have won with 136lb 7oz to Jacobs 128lb 1oz.
It was a sporting match, well done to Jacobs, good luck in the Semi Finals which we think are at Lindholme Lakes near Doncaster.
I'm sure we will be back again in 2009 for another go! |
