The last match you may recall saw hot and sticky conditions at Woodlands View, today it was a cool wind and steady rain all day.
This is the third of this year's coach trips.
Before the match the coach stopped off at 'Greasy Lil's Cafe', better known nowadays as the A5 truck stop just off Junction 12 of the M6.
After a hearty brekkie, it was off down to Makins.
Our best wishes go to Roly who couldn't make this match as he was in hospital for repairs! See you on the next match, get well soon buddy!
We had twenty three anglers fish the match today, following the draw Colin our coach driver drew the Golden Peg which put the mockers on his day!
As the papperazzi wasn't there today we have no match photo's, and this report is from "third hand" information, so if there are any errors, don't shoot the messenger!
A couple of the highlights today were Frank losing his top section off his pole, which was retrieved later on, and Graham's umbrella parted company with him, ending up in Pool No 4. Unfortunately it wasn't possible to retrieve as it sank faster than the Titanic.
You can see from the weights below that everyone caught.
Congratulations to everyone for fishing in the adverse Summer conditions.
Today was also a competition for the 'Pairs Shield', which was won today by Phil Clare and Alan Lamb. They had a total combined weight of 85lb 12oz. Well done gents.
Once the weigh-in was complete, it was off to the pub....Or was it five pubs. Someone told me that the first four wouldn't let you in. Didn't know Coventry was that posh!
After a few beers and some food, it was back up North and home...
Our next senior match is on Saturday 23rd August at Lathom Fisheries on Pool No1, hope to see you there... |
