Round 2 of the 2007 Supercup took place today at Burton Mere Fishery.
We had the home draw against Alliance & Leicester and Ynys Mon.
It is fair to say we had knowledge of Alliance & Leicester having met them before in previous Supercups, however Ynys Mon were new to us, and an unknown quantity.
Ynys Mon were on the back foot (we felt), as one of their members was unable to attend so they were a team of nine anglers, unlike the ten both us and Alliance & Leicester had.
The draw took place soon after 9.00am, with 'all in' agreed at 10.30am, the match finishing at 3.30pm.
The weather for the match was good with blue skies, an air temperature of about 17 degree's and a medium breeze blowing in off the Dee Estuary, as is usual for this venue.
Everyone knuckled down to fish, and before we knew, it was time for the weigh-in.
As you can see from the weigh sheet (thanks for the sheet Phil) Ynys Mon had a stormer, considering they were one man down.
We would like to offer our thanks to both teams for a sporting match, and congratulations to Ynys Mon for a brilliant performance on the day, well worth the early start from Anglesey no doubt!
Let's wish Ynys Mon the best of luck, we hope you go on to win! Bring the trophy back with you!
We may all meet again in the 2008 VDE Supercup......Who Knows? |
