The fifth and final match of our 2006/7 Winter League Series.
We haven't really had any cold Winter this time but we have had strong winds. Firstly at Blundells Farm earlier in the series and today.
Conditions although dry were very windy particularly at the start of the match there were waves that wouldn't have been out of place on the sea!
We had thirteen hardy souls today who braved the conditions, but it was difficult.
So much so that the unusual decision of reducing the five hour match to a four hour match was voted on and agreed by everyone.
The difficulties were so bad that only seven members managed to catch, and several members 'called it a day', and packed up early.
With the strong gusty winds, it came as no suprise that we had some damaged equipment.
Our Match Secretary Neil Davies unfortunately cracked his number four section after it was blown off it's rest onto the metal edging of the canal side.
Ian Armstrong saw his breadcrum bait disappear off it's tray and land upside down in his tackle bag...."I'll not use that today then!".
Hard luck to Paul 'Roly' Rolands, who until today's match was in Third position, but has been pipped at the post by Alan Lamb.
Again the 'Golden Peg' remains safe, with Phil Clare being the unlucky recipient today.
As usual we had an eventful series of matches with a good turn out.
We move on to the next event on the horizon which is the Supercup. After that it's the Spring League which starts in April.
