Soon come round, first match in the new 2019/20 season and first in this year's Winter league series which is a series of five matches from now until the end of this November.
Today we were at Old Hough Fishery in deepest darkest Cheshire our second visit, the first being several years ago.
Fourteen members made the trip, our newest member Chris Finneran also drew Golden Peg on his first match!
You'd never think it was a Winter match, wall to wall bluse sky, not a cloud in sight and temperatures up near the 26 degree C mark. Better than most Summer match weather!
After James sorted pegging and Frank paid bailiff, the draw took place with the match starting at 10.00am for the usual five hour duration.
Has to be said there were plenty of quiet spells for all anglers, an it was only towards the end that most started catching.
Pellet was the order of the day and usually heavy feeding to get the action started.
Combination of pole and rod was used by the majority and some sizeable fish came out with Colin getting a 11lb 1oz Carp, some sizeable F1's also dropped into the keep nets.
At the end of the match weigh-in was completed by James, Phil C and Mark, the results you can see below.
The Golden Peg curse continues, this time new member Chris suffered.
Well done to all who fished and in particular our top three today Phil C, Mark and Ken.
Our next match is only a week away when we are at Hall Lane on Bessies Pool, hopefully no gales like we had last year!
Look forward to seeing you there - Tightlines
