Last match in this year's Winter League and with Adam not fishing today due to illness, the Winter League Champion 2017 was already decided before the match started and the win went to James Bryan, well done James!
On the plus side today the freezing weather of recent days had moved off with early temperature of about five degree's going up to about seven by mid afternoon. There was however some miserable fine rain that continued for most of the day, luckily no wind to speak of.
Eighteen members braved it today and all duly arrived on time to grab a breakfast bun, have a brew and a chinwag, before the draw at 8.30am.
The match ran from 10 - 3. A tough day, many anglers knocking off early as you will see by the 'DNW's' below.
The eventual winner Alan Lamb bagged up with 24lb 14oz, closely followed by Phil Clare with 23lb 8oz and third our league winner, James Bryan with 17lb 4oz.
Mark 'Butch' Whiteside had Golden Peg today and finished in a creditable fourth position, unfortunately not first, had he done so, he would have been £200 better off, hard luck Butch.
As this was our Fur & Feather match and the last until Spring 2018, many anglers went for our annual carvery and a few pints, with the heavy duty mob continuing on to our local, The Hoop & Mallet for a few more beers.
That's it, another year done, we have a few months break now before we kick off our Spring League in April 2018.
Hope you all have a great Christmas and New Year, see you all again soon - Tightlines.
