Third and final match in this year's Spring League, we were on our home turf in Warrington at Partridge Lakes, even the weather was on our side, with sun, blue skies and a pleasant 14 degree's Centigrade (57 degree's Fahrenheit).
Thirty one members gathered today an excellent turnout and again proves the popularity of our matches.
The draw took place shortly after 8.30am once everyone had dined, payed out match monies and generally chewed the fat. As is usual for our matches, the five hour session was scheduled 10.00am - 3.00pm. Pressure was on a few of the anglers with this being the last match of this year's Spring League and a trophy up for grabs.
Phil Morris, although not able to fish today, dropped by to say hello and see how things were going.
Several members were breaking in new poles, although pleased to say not literally! The Charnock clan and Mark 'Butch' Whiteside to name a few.
Golden Peg was drawn by Jon Green, time will tell if he succeeds or not.
The match duly started at 10.00am and overall although most caught, it was an underwhelming day with many of the Carp still in the throes of spawning.
A few nice Bream put in an appearance as did the Gudgeon and the F1's, but not to many 'proper Carp', due, as I said to other matters on their mind.
Following five hours of hard fishing and in some instances some nice red glows from time spent in the sun, the match concluded. Alan and James proceeded with the weigh-in, and below are the full results.
Spey faired better today looking at the results with Paul Croft being the highest placed angler off Marsh Canal finishing in a creditable sixth position.
As you can see Golden Peg remained safe with Jon Green having a day he would much sooner forget, so that roles on to the next match.
Congrats to our top three today Mark, Mick and Alan in Spring League 'A', and to Mike, Joe and John in Spring League 'B'. Today's results mean Mark and Mick are also the league winners this year, you will find the final league here for you to review.
Some members have posted their match review on Facebook, so head to our 'POHAS Seniors' page to get their view of the day.
Thanks to all thirty five anglers who contested the league this year, look forward to seeing you on our Summer League which starts on 4th June when we are at Hampton Springs. Or if you fancy our Sunday evening series, that starts at Meadow View on Sunday 29th May, draw at 4pm and fish 5.00pm - 9pm.
See you all soon......Tightlines.....
