Our third Summer League match this year took us to Larford Lakes on Saturday 16th July. Whilst it might have been Summer League it certainly wasn't Summer weather. We were greeted with heavy rain when we got to Larford.
The day started OK with our usual breakfast at the A5 Truckstop, we arrived at Larford at 9.00am and as mentioned we were greeted with heavy rain.
The draw took place and the match fished 11.00am til 4.00pm.
After a couple of hours the rain easied off and the sun came out from time to time. The temperature hit about 19 degrees. After about 2.00pm the wind got up and to make matters worse if was gusting from South / South Westerly, which made fishing on the pole from the Burr Bank where we were pegged nigh on impossible. A Few brollies took to the breeze during the course of the day, but papparrazi didn't move as he didn't want to skyline our anglers and those fishing the specimen lake behind us, no further info was gleaned and of course no photographs taken. Golden Peg today was drawn by Paul Rowlands who finished in 11th place but 10 places below where he needed to be to win Golden Peg, so the money goes in the bank until next time.
The match concluded and the results can be seen below. Congratulations to our top three, Kev, Colin and Paul. We also had our annual pairs match today, congratulations to our winners of Paul Morris and James Bryan who had an aggregate weight of 76lb 1oz. You can see the pairs details below.
As is normal with our coach trips we stopped off in Stourport to go to the pub and have a drink and a bite to eat. This time we stormed Wetherspoons and a good time was had by all.
Our next match is our final Summer Sizzler for 2011 which is at Meadow View on Sunday 24th July, our next Summer League match is on Saturday 6th August which will be at Heronbrook.
See you all soon......Tightlines.....
