The third match in our Summer League sees us at Wrightington on the Peninsula Lake.
We had eighteen members fish the match which isn't bad considering it is holiday season. The weather today was kind with temperatures a comfortable 21 degrees and a light breeze, as the day went on we saw more of the sun it was great.
The weather was probably the highlight of the day, fishing was not great. A discussion with the owner early on in the day who had oxygen level concerns didn't help, along with the fact that if we caught a fish weighing 10lb or more and/or a keep net with 50lb, he wanted it weighing and returning to the water, instead of keeping them in a net for up to five hours. We saw his point as fish are expensive, but potentially we could have been running round all day weighing fish. As it happened we only had one 'extra' weighing incident and the fish only weighed six pounds, so it went in the net!
We also picked a bad day for a match as the lady who did the food was on holiday, we only found this out when we got there, so some of us (webmaster included) starved all day. ps Thanks for the much needed bottle of water Darren!
All-in was at 10.00 and fished until 3.00pm. All but one angler caught so from that point of view it was respectable, although the weights in general were less than could have been expected.
Ray had the dubious 'Golden Peg' today, and as usual the curse continues with Ray managing 9th in today's match.
Congratulations to John who won his first league match with us today.
The next match in the series is a coach trip to Makins which takes place on 8th August where we will be fishing on 'Phase 1 Lake 2B'. Hope to see you there...
