POHAS Newsletter
April 2007

Welcome to our first E-Newsletter of 2007. We are slowly coming into the 21st Century. We are aiming to issue a newletter at least three times a year.
We want to be able to update as many members as possible with what's going on in your club.
For those with a 2007/8 POHAS licence you will have seen on the 'member details' section that you can fill in your e-mail address. This is so we can send you regular updates. If you do not wish to receive any information from us, send us an e-mail with 'unsubscribe' in the title, this will remove you from the circulation list.

2007 Senior Matches

Senior Matches

Bookings for this seasons matches have been amazing and spaces are limited to both our Spring & Summer series. Many are now fully subscribed, however Frank Davies our Chairman has a waiting list available if you wish to be placed on it. Matches are always a first come first served basis, but adding your name to the reserve list gives you an opportunity should members drop out for any reason.

If this demand continues into next season we will look at the number of pegs we book for matches, we do not want to disappoint any of our members if we can help it, if things change, we will put details on our website and in a future edition of this newsletter.

Funding

Funding

As you may know the club is self supporting and runs mainly from funds gained by the sale of licences.
We are currently looking at a funding program to support development work we wish to do within the club, such as:-

1) Decking replacement at Brownlee's Pool (est cost £20,000). It is now close to 25 years old and will require replacement sooner rather than later.
2) Junior Section Development - We want to be able to offer the opportunity of fishing to local schools, clubs (eg, Beavers, Cubs etc). We would need to be able to loan equipment and provide learning materials (est cost £2,000).

If any member has any ideas that could lead to the sourcing of funds for the above, we would love to hear from you. All discussions would be confidential. Send us an e-mail and/or give us a phone number and we would contact you at a time to suit you.

We are pleased to state that POHAS has a Child Protection Policy with many Committee members CRB checked.

Family Fun Day - Sunday 24th June
Bouncy Boxing
2006 Bouncy Boxing

Slush the Mush
"Slush the Mush"

Some of you members out there may be familiar with our Family Fun Days! The aim is to give everybody a fun day out without costing the earth and also provide funds which go towards our Junior Members, their matches and free fishing equipment which we give them at our annual prize night (more about that later).
Last year we raised in excess of £200. Some went towards the prize night and the remainder covered the cost of the Junior matches and the food and soft drinks we supply. Remember all our Junior matches were free to enter in 2006 for Junior Members and remain free for 2007, as are the food and soft drinks.

Amongst the entertainment this year

Bouncy Castle - Gladiators - Garden Darts
Giant Jenga - Maggot Racing - Music.......and more!

Hope to see you there.....

Rod Licences

Don't forget that wherever you fish from April 1st each year you need to buy a rod licence supplied by the Environment Agency.

Go online or purchase one from your local Post Office. Anybody 12 years of age or older MUST have one, fines up to £2,500 can be enforced on those that fail to comply

  POHAS Licences 2007/8

Are readily available from bailiffs patrolling our pools or if you want to pick one up from our Chairman, then contact Frank Davies on 01925 652327.
Prices are unchanged, they are £10 Adults and £5 Juniors and OAP's.

If you don't have a licence, don't be upset when our bailiffs ask you to leave!

Presentation Night - Friday 5th October

Presentation Night 2006
Our annual prize night takes place once again at Roosters Club, next to Bank Quay Sports & Social, off Liverpool Road.
The night to remember is Friday 5th October.
Entrance fee will once again be free to children and £5 per adult, this includes a hot buffet (value for money or what!)

As usual we will be prenting this seasons winners with their trophies, and we will have much merriment by way of Games, Music and anything else we can find funny to do on the night

Come along and enjoy!
Trophy Time!
Don't forget, if you have any comments we would like to hear them, send us an e-mail, or better still come to a club meeting. They are held on the first Wednesday of each month at the Maltings Pub, Bewsey Farm Close, off Old Hall Road. They start at 8.00pm and on a good night we get free sandwiches (sadly, no free beer).
All members welcome. Hope to see you there....
