Final match in this year's Winter League, final match of the year and also our Fur & Feather match.
Quite a pleasant day today, slightly overcast, little breeze, and air temperature getting up to about 8 degree's centigrade.
Twenty Seven anglers turned out today, arriving at 8.00am and most enjoying a breakfast butty from the chuck wagon. We also handed out our new club woolly hats to those that didn't have them, very smart they are too, and ideal for fishing in chilly weather! (see match photo's).
Alan and James as ever sorted the draw with Nelly the Partridge Bailiff and our draw took place at 8.30am.
Given that most of us were going for a carvery after the match we went in a few minutes early at 9.45am for the usual five hour duration.
The league as ever has been close with a few people in contention and given the results below it remained close to the end.
Match winner today was Alan Lamb with a stout 53lb 4oz off peg 166 and that was enough for him to take this years Winter League by two points from James who did what he could with peg 154, another couple of pound would have seen him win, but there's always next time.
Second today was Jon Green and third, one of our Junior members Kieran Charnock. Great effort Kieran!
You can see the final positions via our leagues pages.
Neil had Golden Peg today so his day was cursed from the off and was one of eleven 'DNW's', some of whom did catch but chose not to weigh in and get off early to get changed ready for the carvery later.
Well done to all 34 of our anglers who have contested this year's Winter league. Before you know it, we will be in April when our Spring League starts.
Just time to say to all of our members and families, have a very happy and safe Christmas and New Year, we will see you in 2017.
