Winter League - Rosemary Wood - Island Pool - 24th October 2015

Second match in and a tad more like Winter today with temperature down to about 12 degree's and the first few hours under rain and a stiff breeze.
Paperazzi was found to have made a mistake on the match card today by putting wrong postcode for fishery venue, which sent some members on a thirty minute detour to Preston (sorry chaps).
That said, we still did the draw at 8.30am whilst still waiting on two members who soon turned up. Golden Peg today was Jim Bates, so his day was done before it started.
Eighteen members made the trip, after the draw all members got set up in time for the 10.00am start.
The all-in sounded and it was soon apparent that one side of the pool had more of the fish as can be backed up by the results.
Bailiff came round shortly after the start and complained we had taken the whole pool. Which having phoned him in the week to advise numbers he said, "it's OK there is only you on the pool". So we read that as 'we have the pool'. Anyway he disappeared off as we said any pleasure anglers can fit in between if they wish, although not many appeared in today's weather.
After a few hours the rain abated and the wind dropped and the last hour or so was fished under decent skies and little breeze. That was offset by armageddon taking place in the field behind us as a shooting party along with their dogs decided to go on a Duck hunt! It was like the Somme, where I was sat it rained lead from the shotgun cartridges, fortunately no harm done (can't say the same for the Ducks), the guns fell silent and calm decended. We then had a brief highlight of Mr Roby almost falling into the pool, but just missed and ended up on all fours on the bank.
After all this entertainment it soon turned 3.00pm and time for the all-out.
Alan and James did the weigh-in and the results can be seen below. As mentioned before Jim on Golden Peg bombed out due to the curse, congratulations to our top three who were mainly on the Rod today as most were, and I think maggot was the favoured bait.

Our next match is only a week away at Lloyd's Meadow in the heart of Delamere Forest, so look forward to seeing you there!

See you all soon......Tightlines.....
