Spring League - Heronbrook Fishery - Meadow Pool - 2nd May 2015

Second of our 2015 Spring League matches and it was nothing like Spring today. It was OK as we arrived, however the day turned to light rain and worse still a hefty South Easterly breeze which was cool, keeping temperature down. It got no higher than eleven degree's all day and later in the afternoon it was down to seven degree's, so for many on the exposed pegs it was quite a grim day and holding poles at 16M was virtually impossible as you couldn't get any presentation.
Prior to this we all arrived optimistically for 8.00am in time for a decent breakfast. Twenty seven anglers made the trip today which is another great turn out.
Neil Dale sorted out or pegs saving some time and the draw took place in the cafe at 8.30 and the match was to fish 10.00 - 3.00.
A couple of anglers chose not to weigh-in but most did and the results you can see below.
Golden Peg today was Ray who left early so GP is safe again! The curse continues.
You can see the match results below and readers of our pohas fishing page on Facebook may also see reports from individual anglers on their day, so for more detail visit our Facebook page, just search for 'pohas fishing'.
Well done to our top three today Alan, Mick and Phil, and to all it was good to see everyone and hopefully we will see you in two weeks time when we will be at Cheshire Fishing for our final Spring League match.

See you on a match soon.

Alan's Match Report (added 04/05/15)

Kept it relatively simple on Saturday. Peg 8 was drawn and according to James it was a good area but it was just off one of the bends. The bends on this lake are supposed to be decent pegs so I thought id do well to frame today as there were some good anglers drawn on the bends. Plan of attack was chopped worm. Before this match I have won here twice fishing worm so I was always going to fish this wherever I drew. I had a large patch of reeds at 14.5m and a bay that pushed out to 16m. Margins looked decent but they didn't produce any bites at all. I also set up a bomb rod incase the wind picked up but this wasn't needed in the end. I had no castors so my worm mix was combined with micros and water to make it quite sloppy. First put in at the 14.5m line with 2 full worms on the hook produced a 1oz perch luckily that was a one off and the f1's and carp soon followed, including a nice Koi carp about 4lb. I caught here steadily for the first 2 hours before it started to slow down. The fished had pushed out to the back of the bay so i went out to 16m and was into the fish straight away including two carp touching double figures and a few tench aswell. That's pretty much how it finished with around 20 f1's, 5 decent carp and few tench. Rig was 0.15-0.13 hook length to a 16's hook with black hydro elastic. Shame about the weather but there's always next time...
