Today saw the second of our three Summer migrations this year by coach, today being to Moorlands Farm in Worcestershire. Seventeen of our members boarded the coach and first stop was our favourite truck stop on the A5 the Trucker's Rest. As usual the guys n gals there served us efficiently and your brekkie appeared in next to no time (highly recommended by us).
The journey today was full of ailing anglers, no names mentioned but one with Montezuma's revenge, one with a boil, location not mentioned on here, one with gout and one with a dodgy knee. It was more like a medical evacuation than a fishing trip!
Following our breakfast it was back on the M6 and M5
and by 9.00am we had arrived at Moorlands farm where the rain duly began to fall.
After the palava of unloading the coach and completing the draw, all-in was scheduled for 10.30am.
Expectations were high today given that we had the whole of the lake (60 pegs) to ourselves, so spacing wasn't an issue with only seventeen anglers to accomodate.
We may too often use the phrase 'the pool was peggy', but you will see from the weights below it was the case today. Rod and pole was used with varying baits. A few breakages also for Alan, James and Colin, there may have been others but not known at time of writing this report.
The weather picked up from 11.30am the rain stopping to be replaced by blue skies and sun with it feeling a pleasant Summer's day, air temperature got up to about 22 degrees.
Our Senior match referee Paul Rowlands aka 'Roly' drew Golden Peg today and although he finished in a creditable seventh place it wasn't enough to win him the £200, so it continues to roll on (no pun intended).
Well done to all that fished the match in particular our top three of Alan, who appears back on form, Mark 'Butch' Whiteside and Ken 'Wing Commander' Whibley.
As usual on our coach trips we stop off on the way back for Tea and a few pints, this time we were at the Mitre Oak in Hartlebury which is just over a mile from the fishery and an excellent eatery, thanks to Katie at the Mitre Oak who organised everything, all went smoothly, particularly the beer down our necks!
It was then time to head home having been dragged out of the pub by our coach driver and club member Colin.
Another trip done, it's only two weeks for our next match at Baden Hall on 16th August, for those fishing that match we will see you there. If you want to fish that match you need to get in touch, DON'T JUST TURN UP AND EXPECT TO FISH!
See you on a match soon.
