Spring has sprung and so have the number of members wanting to fish our matches. A good thing you say, and yes it is, but when you booked matches twelve months ago based on past numbers it has become a bit of a nightmare.
However we have a resolution and we now have a Spring League 'A' and a Spring League 'B'.
Spring League 'A' is for majority of our match anglers, Spring League 'B' has been created for our anglers who are out for a day's fishing and a chance to win some pools money. League 'B' also have their own league, but points gained are not eligible in overall Matchman League.
So this match we had on two pools, Pool 2 the original booking for Spring League 'A' anglers and Pool 1 for our Spring League 'B' anglers aka 'League of distinguished Gentlemen'.
Under this format Golden Peg is still applicable to everyone fishing and based upon highest weight on the day. Today's Golden Peg was drawn by Mike Lewis and again it goes unclaimed.
Everyone met as usual at 8.00am and after sorting out the pegging (Thanks to Alan and John Bryan for getting to the venue at Sparrows Fart to sort this out), the draw took place and the match got underway at 10.00am.
Weather today was dry and overcast at about 12 degree's Celsius, however a still breeze of at least 15mph which gusted occasionally caused nightmares for those on the more exposed pegs. John Mysiak on Pools peg 14 broke a pole section.
The match drew to a close and all-out was sounded at 3.00pm.
The weigh-in took place and thanks to match referee Alan and netsmen James & John Bryan for doing their duties on the day.
See full results below, congratulations to all those who fished, especially Dave Newton and Dave Hughes who both fished their first match with us today. Dave Newton winning his first match on his first attempt, well done!
Our next match is at Partridge Lakes on 3rd May, look forward to seeing you there.
