Summer League - Bradshaw Hall - Pool 4 - 6th September 2014

Another good turn out today with twenty Seven anglers on this the last match of our Summer League and indeed, the last match in this our 2013/14 season.
It's been a great season with some new members and more anglers on matches so we must be doing something right!
As usual all members met at the venue for 8am. Alan and John sorted the pegging out while others polished off breakfasts and sorted other odds and sods out.
Draw complete at 8.30am and the match scheduled to fish from 10.00 - 3.00.
Dave Newton was the recipient today of Golden Peg and it was peg thirteen.
Soon after the sound of the all-in the heavens opened and down came the rain, knocking a few degree's off the temperature in the process. There was very little wind today which was a mixed blessing as that meant the rain stayed for almost four hours. From time to time the visibility and light was quite poor and it made it difficult to spot floats in the water. From where I was sat by peg 25 I could see Dave Newton on peg 13 and he was catching pretty consistently throughout the match and I was almost sure that the £200 Golden Peg was going today.
Many anglers today were on the Rod and pellet was a popular bait. This venue as in the past still is a nightmare for underwater hazards and this frayed the tempers of many anglers today. Apparently this is due to be remedied over the Winter, which, if true will be good news.
The match continued and concluded at 3pm.
It was nail biting time during the weigh-in, had Dave cleaned up with Golden Peg, or some thought Alan may have nicked it. Alan himself wasn't sure.
Forty minutes later it was sorted, Alan took the match beating Dave Newton by only fifteen ounces. Our sympathies to Dave but a great match nonetheless.
A great way to finish this seasons matches.

Special congratulations also to Sue Nicholson who achieved her highest position in a match finishing third today with a weight of 72lb which we believe doubled her previous best weight, so well done Sue!

We say goodbye to Alan for a few months as he and his girlfriend Emily are off to explore South East Asia. We are sure Alan will find time to do some fishing in these exotic places, and we look forward to seeing him back early in 2015 where we are sure he will be hoping to carry on where he left off . . . . WINNING!

That's it for now, well done to everyone who fished our matches this season, we have enjoyed your company and we hope you enjoyed the matches and look forward to doing it all again. The new 2014/15 season starts with our Winter League kicking off on 11th October at Wrightington, hope to see you there. Hope also to see you at our Presentation Night which takes place at Roosters Club on Friday 3rd October starting at 7.30pm, where we hand out the trophies to this seasons winners and also to have some fun as well.
