Penultimate Winter League match took place today at Blundell's Farm, Irlam.
It was more like Winter today, air temperature did get up eventually to about 13 degree's but felt cold in the breeze.
Twenty three anglers made the match today, with four others on duty in the Winter League series which also started today at Partridge Lakes.
Roly and John B sorted the pegging out, pegs were drawn and the match scheduled to fish 10.00 - 3.00pm. The lucky recipient of Golden Peg today was Phil Morris on peg 20 on Ash.
As the all in was due to be sounded the spits and spots of rain began to fall steadily for well over an hour and then the skies brightened for the remainder of the match.
Carp were hard to come by today and only a few managed to bag any to get anything like a weight in the net. Majority of anglers had to settle for silvers which today for most consisted of Gudgeon.
Marc Fearnley saw some action of the feathered variety today. Whilst reeling in a fish a low flying seagull took a fancy to a meal so Marc ended up having to fight off a seagull. Shame I wasn't there to photograph the action. Also interesting and unusual was John Bryan's catch of two gudgeon on one hook.
Bait today seemed predominantly maggot and pellet with maggot being the main attractant. The match was split on best method, many preferring the pole whilst others had a chuck on the rod.
The match eventually concluded at 3pm followed shortly after by the weigh-in.
Below you can see all of the weights which although not high, was a tight match with little between may of the weights.
Phil Morris had the curse of the Golden Peg which didn't let up today with Phil securing 8th spot with a weight of 4lb 4oz.
Our final match is also our traditional Fur & Feather match which takes place at Meadow View Fishery, look forward to seeing you there for the last match of the Winter League and also our last club match of 2014.
See you all soon.
