First match of our 2013 Summer League and we started with a coach trip. A typical Summer's day as we waited for the coach and the rain was drizzling down!
After all the pick ups it was off down the M6 to Worcestershire and Woodlands View. We arrived for 8.00am as Colin our coach driver had the pedal to the metal and first thing on the agenda was breakfast in the cafe.
Twenty one anglers were up for today's match and after breakfast the draw was decided and all-in was set for 10.30am for the usual five hour match.
The predicted rain didn't arrive yet so everyone managed to get set up and ready to go in the dry.
All-in duly came, Mike Roylance had "the best peg on the lake" which was peg 34. The rain also came along for about an hour but stopped and the remainder of the day was dry, it was also quite mild at about 18 degree's although the breeze was quite gusty at times which blew a few poles about but no damage was mentioned so all was good.
3.30pm came as did the all-out. Has to be said the results were disappointing today and about half that we had a couple of years ago when we were last here.
Golden Peg today was Neil Davies who today had to make do with 11th place, the usual curse in place again!
You can see the weights and all the results below.
Well done to our top three Mark, James and Mick and to everyone who fished the match for making the day what it was, fun!
After the match it was our usual evening meal and a beer (or two, or three..),
today we were in the Honeybee Pub near Droitwich where we have been a few times and serves excellent beer and food.
Our driver called 'time' at 7.00pm and it was the jolly trip home where everyone hass the P**S taken out of them, all in good fun of course with Mike (Peg 34) Roylance getting a fair amount of abuse and relatively new members Mark Whiteside and Mick Astbury getting renamed Butch Cassidy and Sundance. There is a reason . . . . Come on a match and find out, but they have a good sense of humour and joined in the fun.
Our next Summer match is only a week away at Highfield near Blackpool, so hope to see you there.
That's it for now,
See you all soon......Tightlines.....
