Second of our Spring League matches saw us at Old Hough Fishery near Middlewich and our first time at this venue.
Bank holiday weekend and the weather forecast gave a temperature of about 16 degree's and a possibility of a shower possibly heavy.
Everyone's hopes were high having read that a 77lb weight won a midweek match, although the numbers fishing wasn't known.
Nineteen of our members arrived at 8.00am in time for the draw at 8.30am.
Alan and James organised the pegs and the draw was completed and all agreed that 'All-In' would be at 10.00am for the usual five hour match duration.
I'm lead to believe their was a dispute between two anglers which was resolved by the anglers themselves and match referee Roly. I know no more, so we'll leave it at that.
All-in duly arrived as did the forecast shower 'possibly heavy', was most definitely heavy, but after an hour of intermittent showers the rain stopped and for some anglers so did the catching of fish. Perhaps the inrush of cold rainwater switched the fish off??
Today's recipient of the Golden Peg was Mark Davies who had drawn it a few times in the past with no success, but today was different, as you will see below he won the match and also the £200 that goes with the Golden Peg, so well done to Mark, it's the first Golden Peg Winner since November 2010 when our Chairman, Frank Davies won. We still have one more £200 left in the kitty so we shall see how long it takes for that to be won ....... will the curse return.
Below you can see Mark receiving his £200 from club chairman and no relation Frank Davies, along with some of our match anglers, and an inset picture of Mark with one of his catch coming in.
That's it for this report our third and final Spring League match is in two weeks on 18th May at Partridge Lakes on Covey No6, looking forward to that.
That's it for now,
See you all soon......Tightlines.....
