Final Spring Match of this season, can't believe where the year's going!
We had twenty five anglers assembled for this match which included two guests, which is the biggest turn out for quite a while. Unfortunately the morning was a dank drizzly day to start with although almost no breeze which was good.
Roly and James pegged out the pool and at 8.30am the draw took place and the match fished the usual five hours from 10.00am until 3.00pm.
By about mid morning the drizzle knocked off and as the afternoon progressed it turned into quite a muggy and humid afternoon.
As you will see from the results fishing was a bit hit and miss depending where you were pegged on the lake and even the winning weights were well below what we would have expected. Perhaps the imminence of spawning fish put them off feeding or even the heavy weather. But many anglers were disappointed and most methods were tried on both pole and rod along with most baits.
So the results are in well done to Mark Davies one of our newer members who took the win today, Paul Morris in second and Mike Roylance in third.
Alan Lamb in fifth place today just about did enough to take the Spring League title this year with 26 points and close behind was Mike Roylance on 24 points. In third place in the league was Paul Morris on 18 points. Well done to all for a closely fought league once again.
Golden Peg continues to role up. Today's poor unfortunate was Phil Morris who with 3lb 10oz managed sixteenth place today.
Good to see Peter Edwards back a former Junior member now back after a few years away and now a Senior. Had a reasonable day and hopefully back for more soon!
Well done also to John Mysiak who has taken over the 'biggest fish' for our Seniors so far this year with a 14lb 12oz Carp beating the previous record held since December 2011 at Meadow View by Frank Davies.
Spring League now over, our next match is the first of our three match Sunday Evening series held at Meadow View which starts on 3rd June meet at the venue at 4.00pm and fish 5.00pm - 9.00pm. Expect some big weights if past years are anything to go buy. These are our 'Summer Sizzlers', let's hope they are. Then on 16th June our Summer League starts with our first (of three) coach trips, the first being to Tunnel Barn Farm. Take a look in your club licence or on the matches page here on the website for all match details and anything else to do with POHAS.
That's it for now, hope to see you on a match.
See you all soon......Tightlines.....
