Spring League - Meadow View - Linnet & Lark Pools - 16th April 2011

At long last our new season starts with our 2011 Spring League.
Everyone had chance to blow the cobwebs off their tackle and today was the day to do it. We had clear blue sky, warm sunshine and a very slight breeze. Air temperature got to about 17 degree's, it was a great Spring day.
Members assembled at Meadow View for 8am, what a great turn out we had with 22 members fishing, several of which were new members including a Junior member who wanted to have a go with the big boys!! The turnout gave us a bit of a dilemma as we were scheduled to hold our match on Linnet pool which would have been too tight for everyone to fish, so thanks to Brian at Meadow View we split the match with 12 members fishing on Linnet and the remainder on Lark. Problem solved....
After the draw, All-In was scheduled for 10.00am and fishing until 3.00pm.
The match was quite a slow affair, although most people caught on a variety of baits including of course pellet, sweetcorn and maggot.
A few notable points, Chairman Frank Davies was drawn as 'Golden Peg' and up until the last minute had not had much success then suddenly hooked into a 16lb 4oz Carp, which is Frank's biggest fish and currently is the club's biggest fish for this season (2010/11). It also greatly improved his standing in this match as you will see from the details below. Our new Junior member Steven Clark had a great day, he also hooked a double figure Carp and finally weighed in with a respectable 16lb 10oz and finished in a well earned 8th spot. Hope to see you on future matches Steven, in particular our Junior League which starts in June.
If the future matches are as well attended, it is going to be a great season. Look forward to seeing members on the next Spring League match which is at Border Fishery, Crewe on Saturday 7th May. Don't forget spaces are limited, so if you want to guarantee being on the match, especially if you don't pay monthly or a bond, please speak to our Chairman, Frank Davies, whose telephone number can be found on the contact us page here on the website, or also shown in your 2011/12 club licence.

See you all soon......Tightlines.....
