More like a Summer match today than Winter. Temperature of 15 degrees, no breeze to speak of and clear blue skies and sun!
It must have been the weather that brought out our members as we had nineteen fishing this match, good to see the Morris Boys after an absence of a couple of matches.
We wished happy birthday today to our Chairman Frank Davies who was celebrating his 64th Birthday. That was the best part of the day for him as the match from his point of view was somewhat disappointing!
We did our usual draw and agreed that all-in would be at 10.00am. So everyone had plenty of time to set up for the match. Golden Peg today was the pleasure of Alan who as you will see below could almost smell the money!

The match fished from 10.00am until 3.00pm followed soon after by the weigh-in. The tension was high as many thought that Alan had done enough to win and with the Golden Peg he would be £200 better off. Match referee Roly built up the stress by weighing almost everyone else except Alan and James who appeared to be the two leading the match. Alan weighed in with 23lb 13oz and 8 drams.....Was this enough for the match? Finally James was weighed in, had he done enough to beat Alan?...... Roly did his duty and......with 31lb 12oz and 12 drams James had robbed Alan of £200. It was a good match from a tension point of view and Alan was our match day Bridesmaid.
Well done to everyone who fished the match, as ever, it is always in a good sporting fashion. Extra thanks to James, Alan and Paul for getting the top three places. Our last Winter League match and also our Fur & Feather match takes place at Meadow View on Saturday 3rd December (subject to weather), look forward to seeing you there.
