Junior Summer League - Brownlee's Pool - 11th June 2011

First of our Junior matches this Summer saw us on our Brownlee's Pool. We had eleven Junior members for this event, some new faces some old. Good to see everyone again.
The weather started quite sunny, but typical British Summer we had a sharp shower part way through the day which then stopped to let everyone dry out!
Members arrived for 9.00am the draw took place and the match fished from 10.00am until 1.00pm. Fishing was slow throughout the day and many Juniors struggled under the conditions.
The day was of course brightened up by the fact we had our BBQ on hand along with our very own 'masterchef' Ken, who provided us all with Bacon butties, Hot Dogs and Burgers, along with pop to wash it all down.
The first match in our Junior league this year ended controversially. Callen who clearly had a fish bigger than all others and who would have won the match made the error of rolling the fish down his keepnet ready to weigh-in but unfortunately the fish fell out of the net and back into the water. As it hadn't been weighed it could not be counted, hence his result of a nil weight is shown below.
Everyone had great sympathy but unfortunately even though we knew he would have won, if you fail to weigh-in, then it's no score. Hard luck Callen. At least you have a moral victory.
So congratulations to all who fished the match, thanks to parents who helped out, club members who officiated and to Ken our chef for feeding the 5,000!.

The next Junior match was also scheduled to be at Brownlee's on 2nd July, however we have changed the venue to Moss Side Farm Fishery, Warrington. The date remains unchanged it is still on 2nd July. Junior members wishing to fish can either go directly to Moss Side Farm Fishery for 9.30am, or we can meet you at Brownlee's Pool at 9.00am, and travel down to the fishery in time for 9.30am. We will probably fish 11.00am to 2.00pm. We will be fishing 'Canal Pool'.
Anyone requiring transport from Brownlee's, we would appreciate a call to let us know to ensure we can fit everyone in. Give Paul a ring on 07803 662159 to let him know what you plan to do, either meet at Brownlee's or make your own way to the fishery or need transport from Brownlee's.
We don't want anyone to be disappointed.

PS: Bait is usual maggot, sweetcorn, luncheon meat, pellet, bread (on the hook not floating). You have to use fishery keepnets so they will be provided at the fishery. We will also be doing our BBQ and providing refreshments. Click on the link above will give you details on the fishery.

Look forward to seeing you there.
