Spring League - Border Fishery - Three Island Pool - 7th May 2011

Second match of three in this year's Spring League saw us take a trip to Crewe and to Border Fishery. In past year's we have been on the match lake, this year, for a change we decided to fish on Three Island Pool.
Everyone duly arrived for 8.00am with most members enjoying a breakfast and a brew in the cafe before the serious matter of fishing took place.
Mr Rowlands our match referee undertook the task of pegging the pool, and by 8.30am we had the draw underway.
Another excellent turn out today with 23 members fishing. The match was being fished from 10.00am to 3.00pm.
For the third time in a row our Chairman Frank Davies drew the Golden Peg. Luck not being on his side today as he finished in a lowly 19th place.
The weather too took a turn for the worse, starting warm and sunny as we arrived, it soon clouded over, cooled down, and as we started the match the heavens opened and the rain was on and off for 3-4 hours and with a stiffish breeze across the pool in some exposed places.
Wether the rain had an effect on the catch today we won't know, but with a winning weight of only 15lb 4oz and very few Carp on show many of the members were disheartened with the day's fishing.

As an asside, there was a match on the pool the following day with 12 people fishing and the winning weight was around the 30lb mark.

Well done to everyone who fished today, especially to our top three. In first place Stephen Tatlock in only his second match with us and to John Bryan in his second competitive match of this year due to his work commitments finished in second and to our coach driver Colin who alledgedly had the worst peg on the lake (again), and finished third.
Hope to see you all on the next match on 21st May down in deepest darkest Staffordshire at Baden Hall.

See you all soon......Tightlines.....
