It only seems like five minutes since last year and here we are, first of our six Junior matches for 2009.
As is usual we start at our Brownlee's Pool. It was a dull overcast day with no breeze and a very muggy 22 degrees. We did have a sprinkle of rain for a few minutes but that soon stopped.
We also had an overnight spell of rain which may have freshened the water up after the recent dry spell.
Being the first match, we are always curious as to how many Juniors turn out, as usual we need not have worried, we had 17 Junior members on today's match, some faces we knew from previous years, many were new members and this was their first time under match conditions.
After checking licences and doing the draw, 'all-in' was 10 minutes early at 9.50am with the match ending at 1.00pm.
The first hour was manic with fish being caught on both halves of the pool in rapid succession. However it did slow down and those members that maintained focus and concentration
managed to hook a few more fish.
Those that know our Junior matches will know that all members were fed and watered with Hot Dogs, Burgers and Coke.
Thanks to the Senior members for their assistance, they include Ken our Chef, John our Coach, Roly our Scalesman and James our Netsman.
Also on hand were Alan, Adam, Alf, Mike, Neil T, Paul & Roy.
Well done to everyone that fished. Everyone gets points in a Junior match, so even those that blanked are still in the running as there are five more matches to go.
The next match is also at Brownlee's on Saturday 11th July, meet at the same time 9.00am. After that we have three commercial fisheries.
All details are in your licence and of course here on our website.
Look forward to seeing you all again on Sat 11th July at Brownlee's... |
