Second in this year's Winter League and after a nice start to the day with a cracking sunrise (see photo gallery), it soon turned wintery with squally showers followed by a very strong gusting wind which made the day's fishing extremely difficult.
Everyone arrived and had a breakfast in the new cafe at Hampton Springs. The draw was sorted with John Bryan getting the cursed Golden Peg, and all in was at 10.00am.
Another good turnout today with 21 members fishing the match.
After 5 hours of a weather beating and more time spent fighting the weather than the fish, the results were in.
As you will see below the weights were not big, and much of that we would suggest was due to the sudden cold spell and the strong winds making bites hard to spot, and on some parts of the pool nigh on impossible.
Well done to Jack Wright one of our Junior members who is now into his second senior match and doing well with a very creditable seventh place. Hard luck to John who had the curse of the Golden Peg today.
We also have our first biggest fish of the season which is now held by Adam Hill after today's match as he caught himself an 8lb 10oz Mirror Carp, well done Adz.
Our next match is at Lloyd's Meadow on Saturday 8th November on the 'Top Pool', don't forget to pack your Winter woolies, hope to see you there at 8.00am. |
